Ok I admit it, I am lost.  There is this foggy confusion that comes over you as you compose, paint, photograph, Photoshop, post everyday for a month and about now is when you start to feel it!

I DID paint ahead :P.  But it's still much effort!  I appreciate everyone's effort in these challenges!

About This Painting

There is something soothing and calming searching for ephemera to put in my paintings and my Photoshop skills are finally being used in my art!  I never saw it coming like this!  In fact it looks a lot like the things I pPhotoshop  The grungy look is a lot easier to do here IMHO!

I kept hearing the word EMERGE in my deepest being.  For me that can mean several things.  Get out of your PJ's and go shopping!  Come out of the Mom Cave and show people what you have been up to!  Go outside, so what if it's freezing!  Or let's travel!  Just myriads of things.

I think this one is transformational really.  Emerge from your chrysalis, your time has come!

About This Painting

I started to really see the potential to make art with what was on my mind or within my soul that came out and surprised me!  I look around at what captures my attention.  Maybe numbers, elements, words.  Some times  a phrase pops in my mind.  This was that!

It means to me that when something good comes your way, squeeze every bit of goodness out of it you can!  Don't think, "Oh I don't deserve this, I'll just take a little bit."  Think omgoodness!  What else is there?  I want it!

It's free for the taking!  Ride it the WHOLE way!

About This Painting

What can I say?  I use every technique and the kitchen sink on these!  Removing, adding, going over, redoing, scraping off!

This one has just numbers and all of them do have numbers hence the connection along with the palette.  This is grunge!  But it's also very interesting to look at!  What do YOU see?

This one has a slightly lighter background in places.  My process takes layers and rubbing back, removal and being rough with that paint!  That makes this great texture!

In continuation off the black and white theme this month, these paintings symbolize the upward swing out of depression.  We are getting momentum now.  Blue happens to be my very favoritist color!  Everrrr!  So it's appropriate to have a dash of Ultramarine Blue.

The white symbolizes light and life coming out of the darkness and depression and the color accent is the zest and joy for life.

I would like to explore the different blacks.  I see this series as groupings of four using Bone Black and Titanium White.  The color accents, just a bit, drawn by a palette knife, will be Cad Red, Ultramarine Blue and Cad Yellow.

As I move on I will explore Carbon black and maybe Chromatic black.

ABOUT THE PAINTING

While this cannot be truly gestural abstraction because I DO plan somewhat with attention to form and composition so it's pleasing to at least my eye, it has many of it's markers of spontaneity and intuitive mark making with my fingers, palette knife, dribbles and other ways of getting paint on canvas.

It's not easy making something look easy and it's not easy making spontaneous marks!  If you have never tried, give it a whirl!  You might just find out you love it!

Once again I find myself getting involved with Leslie Saeta's January Challenge.  Those girls are just so much fun and it's so fun to watch I don't want to be left out!
